In this seminar we discuss methodological questions of economic and business research in and on China. We base our analysis on relevant economic and business literature and in-depth discussions in class. We start with a general introduction to methodology and the research process before we move on to a discussion of different research approaches. For quantitative and qualitative research, we introduce the general concept, discuss a distinct method, analyze some academic papers, and wrap up with an exercise. For mixed method research we only talk about the general concept. We then end the term with a recap on how to write term papers and a discussion of your research paper outlines.
