We consider linear groups, i.e. groups of matrices, with very special properties.
The book by Robinson, A course in the theory of groups, Springer 1996, is a good
introduction to group theory in general.

The first half of the course consists of lectures (i.e. lecture notes), and the
second half will be a seminar.
