My name is Dr. Edwidge Crevecoeur Bryant, and I will be teaching this course as the Flagler College Guest Professor for Winter Term 2022/2023. I am thrilled to be here at the University of Wuerzburg! At Flagler College, I am a Professor and Chair of the Education Department at the St. Augustine and Tallahassee campuses.

Welcome to - Education of African Americans and Haitians in the U.S. and Haiti!

This course aims to take students on a journey of the educational experiences of African Americans in the U.S. and Haiti by examining their history, language, and culture. More specifically, we will explore the effects of segregation in education and the barriers and laws that prohibited African Americans and Haitians from active participation in their respective educational systems. Lastly, we will discuss the successes of individuals and programs that contribute to the achievements of African Americans and Haitians today.

This will be an inspirational journey!
