Telecommunication is an inherent requirement to any satellite system – either for Telemetry, Tracking & Control of the Platform, for downlink of e.g., earth observation data, or as payload in the case of communication satellites. This lecture starts with the introduction of the theory of digital communication systems. Based on this, together with experts from DLR, then recent applications and developments of telecommunication systems for satellites are presented.
